Dance Legend Mortal Kombat - Rain / Thermal Flakie Polish

Dance Legend has sent me a package with a bunch of beautiful polishes to review and today I will start with one of my favorites. It's Rain* from their Mortal Kombat collection, which is a small but awesome collection of thermo polishes with flakies. Rain is the purple one of the three with orange red flakies. While cold the base is a very dark purple, almost black, but it will turn into a bright purple with increasing warmth. It has a matte finish, which I think makes it even more beautiful. I used two coats for the pictures without any top coat. It will probably not last very long, but since it dried very fast and matte flakies are awesome, that's okay with me. As you can see, I had trouble deciding on pictures, but I guess this one deserves the exposure. You can buy Dance Legend polishes through their website or their partner shops. Due to the Christmas break and the general slowness of the Russian post, this took quite a while to get to Switzerland, which is something worth considering. These are the small DL bottles with 6 ml and their sold for $8 each. I recommend having a look at the other two colors over at Anna Gorelova's blog, since I'm definitely going to get my hands on these as well.

Es ist Rain* aus der Mortal Kombat Kollektion, die aus drei matten Flakie-/Thermolacken besteht. Jede Flasche beinhaltet 6 ml und kostet $8. Die Lacke sind bei Dance Legend und den Partnerwebsites erhältlich, allerdings dauert der Versand aus Russland ziemlich lange. Rain ist im kalten Zustand ein sehr dunkles, fast schwarzes Violett mit orangeroten Flakies. Je wärmer die Umgebung/Finger/Nägel, desto heller wird das Violett. Er trocknet matt und ich habe für die Bilder zwei Schichten ohne Top Coat aufgetragen. So hält er zwar sicher weniger lang, ich finde ihn aber umso schöner. Da ich mich kaum für Bilder entscheiden konnte, gibts jetzt eine wohlverdiente Bilderflut. Bei Anna Gorelova gibts zudem Bilder von den anderen zwei Lacken aus der Kollektion, die ich mir auf jeden Fall auch noch zulegen werde.

Rainbow Flakies

If you follow me on Instagram you might have already seen this one, since I couldn't resist posting it early. I used one coat of Wet N Wild - Black Creme as by base color and then added two flakie top coats over the nails. First is Kleancolor - Chunky Holo Black and second is Sinful Colors - Green Ocean. If you're a long-time follower you saw this exact combination in June 2012! :) 

Dance Legend: Candy Flakes - Tinsel, Lollypop, Bite Tonight, Final Fantasy

Another Dance Legend post! I'm gonna show you all four polishes in one post this time. I received four shades from the Candy Flakes collection which has six shades altogether and each bottle is sold for 9$. The formula was alright and I didn't use any top or base coat. I swatched all of them over a darker color as well. My favorite is Tinsel, I'd even wear this one without a darker base because it looks really special! Essie - Mint Candy Apple & OPI - Pure 18K White Gold & Silver Top Coat

As planned I tried my OPI - Pure 18K White Gold & Silver Top Coat over a mint base color and which mint nail polish would be more obvious than Essie - Mint Candy Apple? I was wearing this combination last week and really liked it, even if the flakie top coat kind of changed the color of my base to a more yellowish mint color. On top is one coat of Essence - BTGN High Gloss. 

OPI Mariah Carey Christmas Collection 2013: In My Santa Suit, My Favorite Ornament & Pure 18K White Gold & Silver Top Coat

I got some really cool press samples from OPI's new Christmas Collection and decided to review them for today. The Christmas Collection 2013 will launch tomorrow, the 28th of October in Switzerland and each nail polish is sold for CHF 23.90, except for the Pure 18K Top Coat which is sold for CHF 49.90. There are 19 polishes alltogether and their names are inspired by Mariah Carey. The collection includes 10 regular finishes, 8 liquid sand polishes and the super fancy White Gold & Silver Top Coat. To state the obvious: the price for the top coat is hilarious, considering you can easily DIY (as seen at Demelza's World last week). But since I had the opportunity to try it, I was of course very curious! In addition to the top coat I got a liquid sand and a regular polish. Alright, let's do this! 

OPI - In My Santa Suit

This generously pigmented red is worth staying on the "nice" list. 

Indeed, nice list it is! It's a pretty metallic, shimmery red with a perfect formula. I used two coats without base and top coat. I think this could also be nice as a stamping polish, I will have to try that!

OPI - Pure 18K White Gold & Silver Top Coat

The Top Coat consists of real white gold and silver leaves in a clear base and yes I do absoutely love it! I added it over In My Santa Suit and I think it looks adorable. OPI recommends to add this over darker colors, but I think it would look great over any color, even maybe on top of a beautiful mint? The bottle is really cool as well and besides the price I have nothing to complain about.

I love how they read my mind. THIS ONE! I'm so in love! It's like Essie - Beyond Cozy in textured. I used two coats and nothing else and decided that this will be my favorite holiday polish from now on. For good. Love it.

Dance Legend - #603 (Rainbow Flakies!)

Also from Dance Legend I got a rainbow flakie polish. It reminds me a lot of my experiment to recreate rainbow flakies last summer. It doesn't have a name but a number: Dance Legend - #603 and I used one coat of #603 over one coat of Essie - Licorice. I think that flakies look best over black, but it doesn't have to be that way.  Also the look depends on how the light hits your nails, especially the yellow color isn't always visible. On top I used one coat of Essie - Good To Go and I had no problems with application, drying time or tip wear. Thumbs up!

Catrice - London's Weather Forecast meets Matte Flakies

Who doesn't love mattified glitter and flakies? I sure do!

These are two coats of dark grey Catrice - London's Weather Forecast. On top I added one coat of Essence - Stop For An Ice Cream. I think this one is still available, it is one of the double-sided nail polishes in their standard range and it comes with a green friend. I chose not to use the green one but go for dark grey because I love grey matte nails!

I used Essence - Soft Touch to get the matte look and passed on my usual top coats. Look at that glitter!

Rainbow Flakies (Sinful Colors - Green Ocean + Kleancolor - Chunky Holo Black)

So, I bet you've seen those very special flakie top coats from Cult Nails (Unicorn Puke/Clairvoyant), Picture Polish (Festival), etc.? The ones with the  multicolored flakies? The ones which are almost always and everywhere sold out and quite expensive in addition? I wanted one of those really bad but I'm not gonna pay 20 $ for a bottle of nail polish. So since I own one of the prettiest green and blue flakie nail polish for some days now I decided to do my own rainbow flakie. 

You see two coats of Wet 'n' Wild - Black Creme, one coat of Sinful Colors - Green Ocean and one coat of Kleancolor - Chunky Holo Black. Plus one coat of Seche Vite as always.

So these two nail polishes are about 2 $ each and they're both easy and fast to apply. I'd definitely recommend combining the flakies you do already own! 

I used a matte top coat later and it looked gorgeous as well!

Sinful Colors - Green Ocean

Today I have to show you one of the prettiest nail polish in my collection. And it just moved in two days ago! It's a green-blue flakie top coat from Sinful Colors called Green Ocean.

I added one coat of Green Ocean over a black base and I had no problems with application. As always you will need a good top coat with flakies though, to even the surface. I used Seche Vite. 

You have to add a little more green to the pictures in your mind, since the full beauty of this couldn't be captured with my camera. It's even prettier in real!

Essence - Midnight Date + Essence - Soft Touch Top Coat

After seeing Oooh, Shinies! post of her NOTD I knew I had to do this! Especially since I'm in love with my new Soft Touch top coat from Essence. 

So these are two coats of Essence Midnight Date plus one coat of the flakie top coat. Then I covered it with Soft Touch and I love it! 

Then again, it started to chip after one day but I guess I can live with that.

I love green flakies!
