Deadly Sins Challenge - Day 5: Greed (Mint & Golden Saran Wrap Nails)

It's Day 5 of the Deadly Sins Challenge and this week we are painting the sin Greed! Today's theme says: Go wild and use your most expensive and precious polish.

Illustrations by: dahlig

It took me some time figuring out what to do, because all of my more expensive polishes are either red, golden or glittering. This doesn't exactly fit in with the current spring weather, but then I decided to mix it up with a lighter color. I picked Lancôme - 012, a really pretty and really expensive golden nail polish that I bought a few years ago. I wouldn't buy this one again, but back then I was obsessed with golden nail polish, yay. So for this design I used two coats of Essie - Mint Candy Apple. Then I added one coat of Lancôme - 012 and used saran wrap to take the color off again. I wanted to have a matte finish, so I added Essence - Soft Touch Top Coat on top.

White Golden Water Spotted Nails

I'm so in love with this technique! For today's design I was inspired by The Sparkle Queen Jolene who did a very pretty design in white and gold. So I used two coats of Essie - Blanc as my base and then added Lancome - 012 with the water spotted technique. On top is one coat of BTGN Top Sealer.

Turquoise Stone - Water Spotted Nails

A while ago I had the idea of painting nails that looked like a turquoise stone. I've seen it before with crackle nail polish but I wanted to have a different result. Thanks to cutepolish we know now how to do spotted nails without a special nail polish. I figured the spotted look would work best for a turquoise stone and decided to use it. I applied two coats of H&M - Bella's Choice and spotted my nails with Essie - Licorice. Then I filled in some of the spots with Licorice and Lancome - 012. On top is one coat of BTGN Top Sealer.

Sparkle Stripe Nails

On the lookout for inspiration I stumbled upon this cute pillow by Social Proper on Society6. I instantly fell in love, but then again I don't really need a pillow so I painted it onto my nails. I started with two coats of Essie - Blanc and then added a golden stripe in the middle of the nail with Catrice - Shanghai. I used some clear polish and craft shop glitter to make it extra sparkling. Then I added two more stripes with Essie - Need A Vacation and Essie - Lapis Of Luxury. On top is one coat of BTGN Top Sealer.

Have a nice weekend!

Black & Golden Splatter Nails feat. Catrice - Shanghai

A while ago I got a packet from a dear friend. She sent me a lot of awesome stuff including a golden nail polish out of the Catrice Big City Life LE. I didn't wear this one until today and I decided to use it for Splatter Nails first. I used my DIY Decals technique and p2 - eternal as my base color and then added the golden splatters with a straw and Catrice - Shanghai. On top is one coat of BTGN Top Sealer.

New Year's Eve Golden Studded Nails

The festive days are not over yet! I hope you all had great Christmas days, I had a blast and am now back to blogging. This week with some ideas for New Year's Eve nail art. While Christmas nail art for me is more on the red and green side, for New Year's Eve I prefer glitter, silver and gold. Perfectly suited for this occasion are the 1.5 mm golden stud rhinestones that I got from Born Pretty Store to review. I used two coats of Essie - Beyond Cozy as my festive base color and then added the studs with a dotting tool. On top is one coat of BTNG Top Sealer. I did this design before with black and silver and it is originally done by The Nailasaurus. Last week I've seen a full coverage studded accent nail on Chalkboard Nails and I had something like that in mind as well. I think I might still do it, if I find the time and patience.

My Favorite Christmas Nail Polishes

Today I want to show you my most favorite nail polishes for Christmas. Maybe you've already seen most of them, but I wanted to gather them all in one post so you might find some inspiration for the holidays. Of course there's a lot of glitter and a lot of red. I've included two swatches of each polish and I will add the number of coats used in brackets, so the post will not be too messy. On top is always one coat of Essence BTGN Top Sealer. Click on the pictures for a better view! Alright, let's do this!

China Glaze - Holly-Day (2) + China Glaze - Party Hearty (1)

China Glaze - Ruby Pumps (2)

Catrice - Star Of The Show (3)

Essie - Leading Lady (2)

Wet 'N' Wild - Rockin' Rubies (2)

BeYu - 334 (2)

Essence - Time For Romance (2)

Does this in any kind match with your favorite Christmas polishes? Which one is going to be on your nails for Christmas?

Essie Winter 2012: Leading Lady, Beyond Cozy, Snap Happy, Where's My Chauffeur?

If you follow me on Facebook you know what I promised you for tonight: Finally my Essie Mini Cube for Winter 2012 has arrived. I decided to order Mini's for the first time, since I wanted three colors out of this collection and this cube was a perfect fit. I bought it on Ebay for about 14$ which is quite an awesome price if you compare it to Swiss prices. I chose Leading Lady, Beyond Cozy, Snap Happy and Where's My Chauffer?. The small bottles are really cute and I really hope they don't dry out too fast. I will show you two swatches of each color and a comparison of Leading Lady and China Glaze - Ruby Pumps plus Where's My Chauffeur? and Essie - Mint Candy Apple.

Essie Winter 2012

Essie - Beyond Cozy

I didn't find anything in my collection to compare this one to, it's an amazing and unique shade (for me). Beyond Cozy is something between silver and gold with an amazing sparkle. I used two coats to get an opaque result and one coat of Essence BTGN Top Sealer for a smooth surface.

Essie - Beyond Cozy

Essie - Leading Lady

This was love at first sight! A perfect color for the holidays. I love red glitter nail polish for Christmas! These are two coats and one coat of BTGN Top Sealer. At first I was quite sure that this is similar to Ruby Pumps from China Glaze but in direct comparison they're obviously very different. So you will need both ;)

Essie - Snap Happy

I actually didn't really want this one, but since it was included in the cube with three of my favorites I don't mind having it as well! After checking my stash of Essie's I'm sure this one is pretty similar to Clambake. The picture is a little bit misleading because it is not that loud in real. Just a simple red with a hint of orange. I used one coat for an opaque result and one coat of BTGN Top Sealer on top.

Essie - Where's My Chauffeur?

I love these color shades: mint, light blue... I can't have enough of them! Which is why I really wanted this one. I checked in store if it is similar to Mint Candy Apple but it isn't. Where's My Chauffeur? is more on the blue side. I used two coats here and again one coat of BTGN Top Sealer. Picture is not completely right, which is why I added Mint Candy Apple on my ring finger to show you the difference.

My favorites are definitely Leading Lady and Beyond Cozy. If you are into Christmas shades, you definitely want to take a look at these two. Which one is your favorite? Did you order something from this collection?

Golden Leopard

Today's nails are once again Pinterest inspired. I found this Pin and I think this has to be an advertisement for nail stickers since I wouldn't know how to create such perfect golden nails otherwise. So I really dislike nail stickers because they never fit and always peel off very quickly. But I do love that Leopard look! So I decided to do it with nail polish. I used two coats of Lancome - 012 which is my best golden nail polish concerning the color. Application is not that great, it doesn't really dry and it leaves ugly brush strokes on the nail. But where are those strokes now? I found a very useful tip on Polish Art Addiction on how to avoid brush strokes with metallic colors. You just sponge the last coat of color with a simple kitchen sponge. It won't be perfect but it looks way better than without the sponging. And in addition it gave a very pretty pattern to my gold so I decided to wear this as it is for a day. On top is one coat of Essie - Good To Go.

But then I wanted to do the Leopard nonetheless. I added spots with China Glaze - Cheers To You and the lines with Wet 'n' Wild - Black Creme. First I did it just like in the picture with my ring finger and thumb nail in pure gold. But I didn't like that as much as I liked it in the picture so I painted all my nails with the Leopard pattern. On top is another coat of Good To Go.

Have a nice weekend!
