I had the pleasure to review 12 of the 18 polishes in the newest OPI collection for Christmas 2014 called Gwen Stefani Holiday for OPI*. The collection was created with Gwen Stefani and contains colors from red to purple, green, silver and gold plus four glitter top coats and a golden flakie top coat. It will be available at the end of October 2014. As always, you can find more information about OPI on the OPI Swiss website or their Facebook page. I swatched every color with two coats without base or top coat and I will write a little note for each color this time. Overall I think it's a nice collection, but not too exciting. There are a few colors which stand out for me though: Cinnamon Sweet, Comet in the Sky, Sleigh Parking Only and First Class Desires. Pictures after the jump!

OPI - Christmas Gone Plaid
I sure am plaid I found this tree-mendous forest green.
I was really excited about this one, since I love green polish. It's very dark though and I would prefer it to be a bit more green, but that's just my personal taste. This was also one of the two colors, where the formula was a bit off. It didn't apply as smoothly as the others, but it wasn't too bad either.
OPI - Cinnamon Sweet
Sugar and spice... this deep, warm red is everything nice.
Cinnamon Sweet is one of my favorites from this collection. It might not seem too great in the pictures, but I fell in love with the first brush stroke! It's almost opaque in one coat, a beautiful brown toned red and the name is just perfect. Definitely my go-to red for Autumn.
OPI - I Carol About You
I just fa-la-la-la-love this deep royal purple!
A dark purple with a little bit of shimmer. Luckily (for my taste) the shimmer almost disappears on the nail, which gives it a great glow. Random fact: This one smelled really bad!
OPI - Comet in the Sky
Iridescent beams and midnight black create cosmic art in this glitter.
Now this is a special case. I absolutely adore it in the bottle. So beautiful! But somehow this doesn't quite transfer to the nails. I think the problem is that there is dark glitter, which disappears over darker colors and then there is the lighter glitter, which needs a darker color to sparkle. See how that doesn't work? I used two coats over the above shown I Carol About You and obviously this would need a bit of top coat to look better. But I don't think it's the perfect choice yet, what do you think? How would you wear a glitter like this?
OPI - Fashion a Bow
So busy - all tied-up today loving this bright reddish-orange!
OPI calls this an orange, I'd call it a classic red jelly. Not very exciting - next!
OPI - First Class Desires
This mélange of gold and eggplant shimmer is #1 on my wish list.
Another favorite of mine. Lovely dark aubergine with a bit of golden shimmer. Again perfect for Autumn and I'm definitely going to wear this more than once. This was the second polish where the formula was a bit more difficult to work with, but it doesn't keep me from loving it.
OPI - In a Holidaze
I'm dizzy-in-love with this maroon beauty.
This one is a pinkish red jelly which looks alright with two careful coats. It looks a bit stained in the pictures but not in real life.
OPI - Just Beclaus
This magnificent maroon came into my life just in the “nick” of time.
A nice pinkish purple. Love the name!
OPI - Red Fingers & Mistletoes
This smooch-worthy red shimmer is holiday-perfect.
A nice red with golden shimmer, lovely for the Holiday season. But I prefer the great CG Ruby Pumps/Essie Leading Lady for my red Christmas nails!
OPI - Rollin' in Cashmere
Wooln’t you just love wearing this warm, luxurious gold?
This one is a beautiful light gold. Sadly the brush strokes are quite visible, so maybe using a sponge for the last coat would be a good idea here. I'm pretty sure I saw this exact color before, but I didn't find out from which brand. Any ideas?
OPI - Sleigh Parking Only
Tell the valet to take good care of this exclusive dark burgundy.
A dark greyish purple which I also like very much. Simple but pretty and definitely fitting for many occasions.
OPI - Unfrost my Heart
The shimmery cool glamour of this gleaming silver is beyond hot!
This last silver sadly has no mirror effect. It's still very bright though! It reminds me a lot of CG - Cheers to you.
"First Class Desires" gefällt mir gut. Den setz ich jetzt gleich mal auf die Wunschliste. :)
AntwortenLöschenKann ich gut verstehen :)
LöschenI only ordered First Class Desire and Im glad I did *-*
AntwortenLöschenOverall Im also not that excited about this collection but Im glad I saved some money.. WHICH I can spend on indies lol :D
Great post! <3
Thank you! Glad I was able to help you spend your money otherwise :-D
Danke dir!
Nice swatches. Some of these look really nice :-)
AntwortenLöschenThank you! <3
LöschenThese look very nice!
AntwortenLöschenThank you :)
LöschenYour nails and swatches always look amazing! ♥
AntwortenLöschenThank you very much, that's lovely to hear :)
LöschenComet in the Sky looks so lovely in the bottle. Maybe one coat over a grey creme, with a layer of gelous before regular topcoat... I think that's how I'd wear it.
AntwortenLöschenThat definitely sounds like something worth trying!
LöschenOh wow, OPI nailed it (no pun intended) again! All these colors are stunning! Christmas Gone Plaid is the best Christmas green I've ever seen :-D
AntwortenLöschennone of these really catches my eye :(
AntwortenLöschenRollin' in Cashmere - seems to me similar to Satin Grace by Orly from the Satin Hues collection. But Orly is a bit more pale and less warm ;-)
