Deadly Sins Challenge - Day 9: Wrath (Disney Princess Water Decals)

It's Day 9 of the Deadly Sins Challenge and this week the sin is Wrath. Today's theme says: Get mad trying, again, that technique you know it's going to be a fail.

Illustrations by: dahlig
Well, I planned to do Water Marble, because that gets me angry a lot! But I didn't have a lot of time so I did the other thing that sometimes is really annoying to do. I used Water Decals that I had lying around in my stash for quite some time now. I'm almost certain I bought them at Chez Delaney, but I'm not sure they're still available. I applied them on top of a base coat and I was quite successful! I feel like I have figured out a technique that works really good and if you're interested I could do a video next time I'm using decals. I forgot to take pictures, but on my thumb is Snow White! :)

Born Pretty Store: Miki Nails - Water Decals A 1-23

I wasn't sure about publishing today's post, because I don't feel very comfortable with how my nails look today. In a moment of madness I decided to change back to round nails. I had regrets soon after and I'm not sure I will get used to the new look in the near future. Nonetheless I decided to let them grow a bit and then decide what to do.

Since my first design today didn't work out, I tried my new water decals from Born Pretty Store. Because the last ones I tried were quite bad, I was curious about how the design A 1-23 would look in reality. And since I have the opportunity to review these for free, I thought I would try them again and tell you about it. First: The colors are definitely better, I'm not disappointed. Of course they look super bright online and they are a bit less saturated in real, but I think they look alright. Then application was the usual, it took me quite some time and I'm not very happy with the result. I feel like I could paint this design faster and would be happier with the result, but maybe I'm just too spoiled. They do look cool from a distance though! I used one coat of Star Nails - Nail Art Finishing Sealer first and then one coat of Essie - Good To Go.

Born Pretty Store: Miki Nails - Water Decals A 1-20

And I have another product from Born Pretty Store to review! This time I chose one of their Water Decals, because they have quite some interesting patterns to choose from. Each Water Decal is sold for 1.99 $ and as usual you will get 12 pieces. I always keep my two leftovers for accent nail designs. I chose the pattern A 1-20 because it looked really pretty and it is a design that I couldn't paint freehand. To be sure I added one coat of Essie - Licorice as a base and two coats of Star Nails - Nail Art Finishing Sealer on top.
The durability of the decals is very good and I'm starting to think that my problem with Water Decals is just the missing practice! Despite the good quality I was disappointed in this product, because it didn't look like the illustration in the shop at all! While in the shop the pattern looked clear and vivid the original product was very pale. Of course I still like the pattern and it doesn't look bad, but still I would want to get the exact pattern that I chose.

Valentine's Day: Roses & Polka Dots

I didn't do any Valentine's Day designs this year and the one that I did for today is only a water decal. I'm not a big fan of water decals but nonetheless I always buy them because I love the patterns. The problem in my opinion is, that they are not easy to apply with the weak hand and they don't last too long either. So all the effort is not really justified. I bought this design over a year ago at Chez Delaney but I'm not sure if it is still available because I don't have the name of the decal. On top is one coat of Star Nails Nail Art Finishing Sealer and another coat of BTGN Top Sealer. I didn't use a base color but I'm holding a bottle of Essie - Virgin Orchid in the pictures, which is a beautiful color by the way!

Reindeer Nails

I've done some reindeer nails last year (here and here) and of course I'm doing them this year as well. My timing is perfect since last night it started snowing here. Last year I bought very sweet reindeer water decals at a store that I don't remember anymore. I'm really sorry about that! The brand is called Bluesea and they might be sold in one of those nail art online shops, but I couldn't find them anymore. When the decals arrived in my mail last year, Christmas was already over and I didn't feel like wearing reindeers on my nails anymore. So I decided to store them and finally grabbed them out of my stash yesterday. I used two coats of Essie - Blanc as my base color and then placed the water decals onto the dried polish. The quality of this decals is really great, I could move them around until satisfied with the look and then use a paper towel to remove the bubbles. On top is one coat of BTGN Top Sealer and they didn't even try to wrinkle. Also present in the pictures is my beloved reindeer cup. Oh, this is so my time of the year!

M&M's / Rainbow Nails

M&M's! Yay!

I've seen those water decals last week at Chez Delaney's and I just had to order them. They're listed as 'HQ Water Decal K157'.

I decided to put them on a rainbow of pastels, each decal on its pastel twin color.

From left to right:

Essence - Speed Of Light Blue
China Glaze - Re-Fresh Mint
China Glaze - Something Sweet
China Glaze - Lemon Fizz

I used one coat of Star Nail  - Nail Art Finishing Sealer on top. Application of the decals was flawless!
