Flocking Velvet Powder Nails

I've been contacted by Born Pretty Store and asked to review one of their products. I know that the flocking powder nails are already all over the blogs and you've probably already seen them. But I just had to know how they look in real life! So I chose a red brown flocking powder set which comes with a brush and tweezers. The process of creating these is very easy, you just choose a nail polish for your base color and then grab the powder with the tweezers and sprinkle it over the wet polish. Then you let it dry and brush the excess off with the brush. You don't need top coat with this one since it would ruin the velvet look anyway, so I didn't even try. I chose Essie - Sole Mate as my color and added a thick coat to prevent my nails from shining through. At first I was thrilled on how awesome they looked but then they started to feel a little awkward. Especially when I touched another fabric with my nails the feeling was horrific! Like nails on a chalkboard... Anyway, I think they would be fun for a special event, costume party or whatever or just for a fun manicure for a single day but I would never ever wear these over night, it would give me nightmares ;)

If you like this look and you want to try the flocking powder as well, feel free to use my Coupon Code for 10% off at Born Pretty Store.

  4. Very pretty colour. I've seen velvet mani mostly in pastel shades, which I'm not particularly fond of, but this dark burgundy shade I like.

  8. I'm a bit torn. They do look really nice - but also kind of weird... And will it even stay on over night? (By the sound of it, you never found out, cause you took it off again?

    1. That's right, I took them off! But from what I've read on other blogs the powder tends to fall off after a short time. So I guess they are really just for special events or short-time wear.
