Water Spotted Nail Art feat. Model's Own - Chrome Indigo

I used two coats of KIKO 336 - Electric Blue as my base color and applied some liquid nail tape around my nails to protect the skin from nail polish. Then using first KIKO 523 - Royal Blue and second Model's Own - Chrome Indigo I did the water spotted technique to create the spotted look. The matte finish was achieved with Essie - Matte About You.

Dance Legend: Round Space Collection - Supergalaxy & Inception plus Black Glitter Base

I'm back to blogging and can finally post my swatches of the Dance Legend Round Space* collection. They send me two polishes to review plus the Black Glitter Base* which is a peel off base coat for glitter nail polish. I haven't tried a peel off base coat and I'm quite happy with the aluminum glitter removal technique, but I was excited to try this one. Since it's black, you can use it as a black base color for glitter top coats, which I think is great. I used one coat of the Black Glitter Base and then added one coat of Supergalaxy, a really great glitter polish. After a few days without any major tip wear, I decided to remove it. I filmed part of the process to show you two ways of doing it. You can either pull off the whole layer with your nails. This worked great, but even though I couldn't see any damage, I feel like it isn't the healthiest method for your nails. Or you can use a nail polish remover and use it as usual. While this doesn't usually work, it will remove the glitter almost immediately with the black glitter base. Supergalaxy by itself has a blue tinted base, so I added a picture comparing it to Inception without the black base coat at the end of this post. Inception is a beautiful syrupy pink glitter of which I used two coats. Both polishes plus the peel off base coat are available the Dance Legend online shop for $9 each.

Endlich kann ich euch meine Swatches der Dance Legend Round Space* Kollektion zeigen. DL hat mir zwei der Lacke und die Black Glitter Base* zugeschickt, die genau wie andere Peel Off Base Coats funktioniert. Ich bin zwar zufrieden mit der üblichen Aluminium-Technik, finde aber eine schwarze Base auch spannend. Ich habe über eine Schicht der Black Glitter Base eine Schicht vom Glitterlack Supergalaxy lackiert. Nach ein paar Tagen ohne grössere Tipwear habe ich das Ganze dann entfernt und einen Teil davon gefilmt. Ihr könnt die Base entweder komplett abziehen, was jedoch vermutlich nicht besonders gut für die Nägel ist. Oder ihr könnt den Lack ganz normal mit Nagellackentferner entfernen, was dank der Base viel schneller geht als ohne. Mundo de Uñas Stamping Polishes

I received my order from Mundo de Uñas on Friday and given the feedback on Instagram today, I don't really have to introduce these, do I? :) I read about these Mexican stamping polishes a while back and they seem to be highly pigmented, even when stamped over a black base. Since they're also quite cheap, I decided to make an order of six colors to decide for myself. 

Am Freitag habe ich meine Mundo de Uñas Bestellung erhalten und ich glaube, ich muss die gar nicht wirklich vorstellen, oder? Sehr gut pigmentierte und beliebte Stampinglacke, die ich nun auch selber testen wollte. Sie kommen aus Mexiko, sind jedoch recht billig, darum habe ich mir mal sechs davon bestellt.

Today I tried Green and Blue, and I'm not disappointed. For my base I used one coat of KIKO - 347 Dark Green. Then I applied some liquid nail tape to protect the skin from the polish (a post on that will follow soon). I think that was a very good idea, since they're so highly pigmented and can stain your skin. I used two images of the MoYou London Hipster plate for the plaid pattern. Karine also gave me the tip to wait a few seconds after picking up the pattern with the stamp. I did that and it worked, but I didn't feel like redoing my nails, so I didn't try it without the waiting time. They only bad thing about these is their smell, which is terrible. Apart from that I'm very happy with my new polishes and I can't wait to stamp the complete rainbow on my nails! <3 

Zuerst habe ich Green und Blue ausprobiert und ich bin sehr begeistert. Als Grundfarbe habe ich eine Schicht KIKO - 347 Dark Green lackiert und dann rund um den Nagel Liquid Nail Tape aufgetragen (dazu folgt dann noch ein separater Post). Da die Lacke sehr stark pigmentiert sind, war das auch eine gute Idee, das sie die Haut verfärben können. Für das Plaid Muster habe ich zwei  Bilder von der MoYou London Hipster Platte benutzt. Karine hat mir ausserdem den Tipp gegeben, den Lack ein paar Sekunden auf dem Stempel antrocknen zu lassen und erst dann auf den Nagel zu drücken. Das hat gut funktioniert, ich habe aber auch nicht die Geduld gehabt, es noch andersherum auszuprobieren. Leider stinken die Lacke sehr, ich finde sie aber trotzdem toll.

Den Zeigefingernagel habe ich mir übrigens mit dem Top Coat ruiniert.

Dance Legend Enamel Glass - 1052 & 1054

Whoop whoop, back to square nails! They're not perfectly shaped yet, but I do like them so far. The next two colors from my Dance Legend package are from their Enamel Glass collection, a selection of glossy, kind of sheer polishes inspired by coloured glass. I like the idea and the dark red one looks pretty cool, but as you can see I had some trouble with the application. 1052* looks nice with two coats, but I couldn't get an even finish with 1054*. I'm wearing no base or top coat for the pictures. I think these could be cute for some watercolor/stamping nail art, but I didn't try that yet. 

Yay für die neue/alte Nagelform! Sie sind noch ein wenig schief, aber das kommt noch besser. Heute habe ich zwei Lacke aus der Dance Legend Enamel Glass Kollektion. Die Lacke sind halb durchsichtig, inspiriert von bunten Gläsern. Die Idee finde ich zwar toll, aber leider hatte ich Probleme beim Auftragen. 1052* gefällt mir gut und war auch deckend mit zwei Schichten, bei 1054* habe ich das nicht hinbekommen. Die Fotos sind ohne Base und Top Coat. Vielleicht sind sie eher was für Nail Art, das muss ich aber noch probieren.

OPI Hawaii 2015 - Is Mai Tai Crooked? & This Color's Making Waves

The Hawaii collection by OPI* will be available from today. They're launching 12 very springlike colors and I had the opportunity to try two of them. Although these two aren't my favorites from the collection (from what I can tell), I swatched them for you. First there is Is Mai Tai Crooked? for which I needed three coats and it still wasn't completely opaque. Apart from the formula I also don't really like this color too much. I didn't use any top coat but the Drip Dry Drops* from OPI which I'm testing at the moment. I do like these so far! The second color is This Color's Making Waves and I like this one much better. That's mainly for the golden/copper glitter inside, which gives the blue a really nice shimmer. I used two coats and although it seems a tiny bit streaky, I like the result. At the moment I'm thinking about getting That's Hula-rious!, the mint color of this collection. Which one is your favorite?

Ab heute gibt es die Hawaii Kollektion von OPI* und ich durfte zwei der zwölf Farben testen. Das ist zum einen Is Mai Tai Crooked? den ich leider nicht so toll finde, weil er nach drei Schichten immer noch nicht komplett deckt. Die Farbe steht mir auch nicht sonderlich gut. Die Bilder sind ohne Top Coat, dafür habe ich die Drip Dry Drops* von OPI benutzt, die ich momentan teste und gerne mag. Zum anderen habe ich This Color's Making Waves zugeschickt bekommen, den ich schon viel besser finde. Ein tolles Blau mit goldenem/kupferfarbenem Glitter und deckend mit zwei Schichten. Leider ein klein wenig streifig im Auftrag, aber ich bin doch recht zufrieden. Ich überlege mir den mintfarbenen That's Hula-rious! zu kaufen. Welcher gefällt euch am besten?

Matte Gradient Splatter Nails

A while back I saw a beautiful design by one of my favorite nail artists: Lady Crappo. She did a matte gradient with metallic splatter on top and I really wanted to have this design on my nails as well. I decided to go for the green gradient and I used OPI - You Are So Outta Lime! plus KIKO - 347 as my gradient colors. I then used Essie - Matte About You for the matte finish and added the metallic splashes with Essie - Penny Talk. She did a tutorial on how to do all of that.

Heute gibts ein Design von Lady Crappo. Den grünen Farbverlauf/Gradient habe ich mit OPI - You Are So Outta Lime! und KIKO - 347 gemacht. Für das matte Finish eine Schicht von Essie - Matte About You aufgetragen und dann die Spritzer darüber mit Essie - Penny Talk. Sie hat auch ein Tutorial dazu, in dem sie genau erklärt, wie das alles geht.

Dance Legend Mortal Kombat - Rain / Thermal Flakie Polish

Dance Legend has sent me a package with a bunch of beautiful polishes to review and today I will start with one of my favorites. It's Rain* from their Mortal Kombat collection, which is a small but awesome collection of thermo polishes with flakies. Rain is the purple one of the three with orange red flakies. While cold the base is a very dark purple, almost black, but it will turn into a bright purple with increasing warmth. It has a matte finish, which I think makes it even more beautiful. I used two coats for the pictures without any top coat. It will probably not last very long, but since it dried very fast and matte flakies are awesome, that's okay with me. As you can see, I had trouble deciding on pictures, but I guess this one deserves the exposure. You can buy Dance Legend polishes through their website or their partner shops. Due to the Christmas break and the general slowness of the Russian post, this took quite a while to get to Switzerland, which is something worth considering. These are the small DL bottles with 6 ml and their sold for $8 each. I recommend having a look at the other two colors over at Anna Gorelova's blog, since I'm definitely going to get my hands on these as well. 

Dance Legend hat mir ein Päckchen mit vielen Lacken zum Testen zugeschickt und einer davon gefällt mir besonders gut. Es ist Rain* aus der Mortal Kombat Kollektion, die aus drei matten Flakie-/Thermolacken besteht. Jede Flasche beinhaltet 6 ml und kostet $8. Die Lacke sind bei Dance Legend und den Partnerwebsites erhältlich, allerdings dauert der Versand aus Russland ziemlich lange. Rain ist im kalten Zustand ein sehr dunkles, fast schwarzes Violett mit orangeroten Flakies. Je wärmer die Umgebung/Finger/Nägel, desto heller wird das Violett. Er trocknet matt und ich habe für die Bilder zwei Schichten ohne Top Coat aufgetragen. So hält er zwar sicher weniger lang, ich finde ihn aber umso schöner. Da ich mich kaum für Bilder entscheiden konnte, gibts jetzt eine wohlverdiente Bilderflut. Bei Anna Gorelova gibts zudem Bilder von den anderen zwei Lacken aus der Kollektion, die ich mir auf jeden Fall auch noch zulegen werde.

How to Fix a Broken Nail - Tutorial / Orly Nail Rescue

Back when I had very brittle nails and a broken nail every other week I decided to look for something to fix the problem. I tried the tea-bag-technique with nail glue and the nail repair pads from essence which is pretty much the same thing. I wasn't too happy with these and then read about the Orly Nail Rescue kit which comes with nail glue, nail repair powder and a buffer. After using it a few times I kind of forgot about it. Also, my nails got better bit by bit, so I didn't really need it anymore. Up until the incident two weeks ago when I piled my thumb into a ventilator (it was disconnected - yay!). It was such a bad rip that I couldn't just cut it off and that's when I remembered my kit. I decided to show you the process of repairing a nail with this kit since I thought that could be interesting for some. The set is available from various stores, I got mine on ebay.

A note to start with: I think the powder is acrylic powder and if you have that plus nail glue you might not actually need to buy this kit. I didn't try it though... let me know in the comments if you know more! Oh and: today's pictures aren't pretty, sorry about that! 

Ich hatte früher ganz brüchige Nägel und alle paar Tage einen davon eingerissen. Meine Versuche mit Nagelkleber und Teebeutel bzw. Nail Repair Pads von essence waren nicht sehr erfolgreich und ich bin dann über das ORLY Nail Rescue Set gestolpert. Da drin sind Nagelkleber, ein Pulver und eine Polierfeile zum Reparieren von eingerissenen Nägeln. Vor zwei Wochen habe ich dann meinen Daumen in einen (glücklicherweise ausgeschalteten) Ventilator gerammt - autsch. Da der Riss zu tief war, um den Nagel einfach abzuschneiden, habe ich das Set wiederentdeckt. Ich dachte, ich zeige euch heute, wie ich damit den Nagel geflickt habe, weil das sicher einige von euch interessiert. Das Set gibts bei diversen Anbietern, meines ist von ebay.

Kurze Anmerkung zuerst: Ich glaube, dass es sich beim Pulver um Acrylpulver handelt und ihr darum auch nicht unbedingt genau dieses Set braucht, falls ihr das eh zu Hause hättet. Aber ich habe eigentlich keine Ahnung von dem Zeug und habe es darum auch nicht selbst ausprobiert. Lasst mir gerne einen Kommentar da, falls ihr mehr wisst. Und: Die Fotos sind heute nicht hübsch, sorry dafür. 

Stuff you will need: Nail repair/Acrylic powder, nail glue, a buffer, a brush and an underlay to collect the excess powder. For removal: nail polish remover with acetone, cotton pads, aluminum foil.

Dinge, die ihr braucht: Orly oder Acrylpulver, Nagelkleber, Polierfeile, ein Pinsel und eine Unterlage für das überschüssige Pulver. Zum Entfernen: Nagellackentferner mit Aceton, Wattepads, Alufolie.

Step 1: Remove old polish or the old powder-glue-mix. I've done this several times since it will only last for a few days. You will also have to remove the stuff using this technique, just let it soak for a few minutes. Please wait until it's completely soft and can be removed without difficulty, as shown in the picture, otherwise you might damage the nail underneath! You want to be really careful around the ripped part of your nail.

1. Schritt: Alten Lack oder Pulverreste entfernen. Da ich den Nagel mehrmals flicken musste, habe ich mit der Entfernung des alten Pulvers angefangen. Für das Entfernen einfach den acetonhaltigen Entferner auf ein Wattepad geben, mit Alufolie umwickeln und ein paar Minuten einwirken lassen. Bitte lange genug warten und erst abziehen, wenn das Zeug ganz weich wird, sonst macht ihr euch den Nagel kaputt! Speziell beim Riss müsst ihr sehr aufpassen. 

Step 2: Add the nail glue onto your nail and try to make it as neat as possible. Try not to cover your cuticles in nail glue! As you can see in the next pictures, I didn't do it very good due to having to take a picture while doing it, but the neater you do it here, the better it will look in the end. Also, hurry up because glue dries fast. No kidding.

2. Schritt: Den Nagelkleber so ordentlich wie möglich auf den Nagel aufpinseln und möglichst nicht auf die Nagelhaut. Ich habe mich da wegen dem Fotografieren ein wenig gestresst, wie man in den anderen Bildern sehen kann. Es lohnt sich aber, hier genau zu arbeiten. Und beeilen müsst ihr euch auch, weil euch das Ganze sonst eintrocknet.

Step 3: Dip! 

3. Schritt: Eintauchen!

Step 4: Carefully remove excess powder with a brush. It's better to let it dry first. They say not to touch your eyes while working with this powder and I think that might be very good advice. Close the jar after you're done, so you won't spill it (and go blind). 

4. Schritt: Ganz vorsichtig das überschüssige Pulver mit dem Pinsel entfernen, aber am besten zuerst trocknen lassen. Bitte mit dem Pulver nicht in die Augen fassen und das Döschen rasch wieder verschliessen. Teufelszeug! 

Step 5: Let it dry. At least 30 minutes. Then buff for a smooth finish. It feels and looks a bit weird, but it doesn't actually need a lot of buffing.

5. Schritt: Komplett trocknen lassen. Mindestens 30 Minuten. Dann polieren, bis ihr zufrieden seid. Es wird natürlich nicht so glatt wie der Nagel vorher, braucht also nicht zu viel Poliererei.

Step 6: Make sure that there is no excess powder on your nails. Then add two coats of a base coat of your choice and let it dry.

6. Schritt: Wenn ihr sicher seid, dass kein loses Pulver mehr auf dem Nagel liegt, könnt ihr zwei Schichten Base Coat auftragen und trocknen lassen. 

Step 7: If you want to, you can add a color of your choice. I used two coats of Zoya - Dree and one coat of Essence - BTGN High Gloss top coat. The finish looks perfect to me and in my opinion no one can tell that there's a broken nail underneath. Now the duration of this nail rescue depends on what you do with your nails every day. It took three days until the powder mix gave in and then you just have to be a bit careful with that nail until you're able to add a new layer or - if the ripped part grew out - file down your nail. That's it, nail rescued! 

7. Schritt: Wenn ihr wollt, könnt ihr jetzt noch darüber lackieren. Ich habe dafür zwei Schichten von Zoya - Dree plus eine Schicht vom Essence BTGN High Gloss Top Coat lackiert und ich finde, dass man dann von der ganzen Reparatur überhaupt nichts sehen kann (ohne Farblack natürlich schon). Bei mir hält das Ganze ca. drei Tage und dann fängt das Puder an der gleichen Stelle wie der Nagel zu reissen. Ich schaue dann, dass ich das Ganze entweder möglichst rasch wieder neu machen kann oder falls der Riss schon ganz rausgewachsen ist, den Nagel kürzen kann, damit ich nicht irgendwo hängen bleibe. Das wars auch schon!
